About District Library Sonipat (Sonipat)
District public library Sonipat was established by the Government of Haryana on 28-01-1980. It is situated at the old court campus, near Kath mandi, Patel Park, Sonipat. The library has a good collection of 42275 books including reference books, using the Dewey decimal classification system for its collection classification. It is semi-automated and has adopted an open access system for users since the beginning. The library has subscribed to 12 newspapers and 19 magazines. Currently, there are 2010 members. The library charges Rs. 500 for its lifetime membership and serves approximately 125 visitors/Readers on daily basis and has a reading hall capacity of almost 100 readers at a time. The library has a CCTV monitoring facility, solar panels and 9 computers with power backup is available but installation is pending. Library remains open for the public from 09:00 AM to 8:00 PM on all working days except Friday, last Saturday of the month, and other public holidays.
